Envirofit India was formed in 2007 as a subsidiary of the US-based non-profit organization Envirofit International. Located in Bangalore, Envirofit India markets clean burning biomass stoves to rural areas in India.
Using a sustainable business model, the clean cookstoves are delivered to rural areas of India to improve family health and living conditions while developing local and regional enterprises through the channel network. Members of the Envirofit channel network realize significant business growth while contributing to the improved health and welfare of people in their communities.
Initial marketing of stoves is currently occurring in the southern states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The current channel network in the two states consists of dealers, distributors, village entrepreneurs and NGOs such as: Myrada (KN and TN), Tamil Nadu Foundation (TN) and the Cauvery Womens Federation (Cuddalore – TN).
Through our channel network, Envirofit India is represented in over 700 villages in Karnadaka and over 300 villages in Tamil Nadu. Envirofit India looks to have over 40 channel partners throughout the two states with roughly 600 outlets by the end of 2008. Significant business opportunities exist as Envirofit India develops its current market presence as well as expands throughout India by 2010.
